Cancer New Moon June 25, 2025
BIG feels! We are in the New Moon portal June 24-26 and this moon has a special signature that comes with it.
The New Moon is in Cancer (the zodiac) which is double Cancer (zodiac) energy with both the Sun & Moon hanging out in this sign together at this time. The Cancer Sun season lasts until July 21. While the moon moves quickly onto the next sign (every couple of days or so) this New Moon in Cancer marks a moon cycle that will complete on January 3, 2026. What we intend and “plant” in the darkness of this New Moon is set to grow into fruition as the cycle completes early 2026.
ADDITIONALLY, Jupiter JUST moved into Cancer on June 9th, for the first time in 12 years! That makes it triple Cancer energy right now (Sun/Moon/Jupiter) and by nature of Jupiter it AMPLIFIES whatever it meets up with. Jupiter will be in Cancer until June 30, 2026.
If you look back 12 years ago, you'll get an essence of some Jupiter in Cancer themes that may be relevant for you as it tends to reactivate familiar patterns from before.
Fun Fact: Jupiter was at almost the exact same place (5 degrees of Cancer, currently at 3 degrees of Cancer) when the Declaration of Independence was signed. BIG “nurturing the needs of self & family” energy.
Since Cancer represents the archetype of the Mother and the Home, it brings a strong element of attention to your "immediate domain"
Without making this summary too complicated (there are a lot of aspects interacting with the Sun/Moon/Jupiter right now, shaping the overall energetic imprint) - it's important to note there's a strong square (tension of "conflicting" energy) happening with just-moved-into-Aries Saturn (on May 24 - first time in Aries in 27 years) and Neptune (moved into Aries March 30, first time in 164 years!) .... what this means is, the physical manifestation of our vision and ideals may feel at odds with what we're doing, seeing, and feeling. But, there's more going on beyond the surface and, ultimately Jupiter brings a favorable touch to the mix (a BIG help!) because Jupiter's best placement out of all the 12 zodiac is exactly where it is now - in Cancer. That really enhances the gas giant known for its benevolence and the potential it has to improve things when we consciously work with it.
A caveat here: Jupiter will expand and amplify whatever it touches, so like all zodiac signs - there are light and shadow expressions of the Cancer archetype. What you feel is (always powerful, but) especially powerful right now. Thoughts become things and emotions are the catalyst to bring them about. While Jupiter is well-placed in Cancer, keep aware of the shadow tendencies Cancer can express so you can balance them as needed and keep on track with what you actually intend.
As a cardinal water sign, Cancer connects strongly with water. It’s directly related to the water of a Mountain Spring, but also associated with tears (the water of the body). You may be feeling a stronger urge than normal to cry at this time, go ahead and release the waterworks! It activates hormones to help you feel better after. Along with that, attention to self-care and nurturing is top priority! Again, while that’s always important, it’s especially important right now as Cancer specifically represents nurturing (the archetypal role of the Mother).
In today’s world of mega-stress, how do you replenish? Cancer (zodiac) reminds you to eat well, nourish the body, drink water, soothe your nervous system, and pay attention to your body (your physical home). Likewise, care for your home and immediate surroundings. Don’t stress or agonize about doing all-the-things, but do the small things (they matter) and if you’re feeling overwhelmed, take it a step at a time. Start with “what do I need right at this moment?” - the answer may often surprise you, something as simple as "take a deep breath" and/or “drink a glass of water”. A glass of water can also be a good remedy to accompany crying.
Remember to celebrate every task done. Caring for ourselves, our family, and our surroundings may often be overlooked simply as an expectation rather than recognizing it for the big deal that it is, but with endless distractions and things on the “to-do” list, every act of love and nurturance makes a difference. You might not hear it from anyone else, but applaud yourself… because it matters.

If the shadow tendencies are coming up for you, remember to “take nothing personal” (sage advice from Don Miguel Ruiz’s book ‘The 4 Agreements’) - ie what others do is a reflection of them, not you. Try not to attach to what you don’t want or fearing a negative outcome. Instead, direct your focus to what solutions you can create and pour into your own cup. The further away we are from our own center, the more reactive we are to stress. It’s usually meeting our most basic needs (food, water, breath, sleep, sunlight, nature, movement, stillness, hygiene / body care, and healthy creative outlets) that keep us balanced.
May the illumination of Cancer (zodiac) qualities during this Sun/Moon/Jupiter journey guide you ever in your favor.
Love & Light,
